First spark of an idea!
— Johny Kramer & Jacqueline Rawlinson-Brown.
This project started life as a hypothetical university project to put together a plan to start a record label. Things quickly spiralled away from this original rough brief into an idea of giving young people the experience of writing, recording and releasing a single. We studied the birth of Rough Trade Records in the 1970’s and was inspired by their D.I.Y. ethos.
With this in mind and the memories of our own experiences, of our first bands, and the lack of knowledge and direction we had back then, we thought it would be great to walk young bands through this process. Help them set up a useful web presence, record a track with them and release this track as an independent release with a launch event. We recon this would be a great way of getting young people really making the most of their music, and working together in a positive way!
After the bands have been through this process with us they will have the tools to be able to put together thier own release and make the most of the resources they have.
